A day of roller coaster emotions!!!

Today started off rough but is having a great ending to our day.  This morning we started with Ellie’s therapy.  When we arrived I was informed that O.T. today was not approved by insurance and if we wanted to keep her appointment we would have to pay $450.00 for the appointment.  We also had P.T. scheduled for today and that was approved so we kept that appointment at least.  Then I spent most of my day trying to arrange and schedule Ellie’s MRI. This was another pain in the butt.  They were telling me they were completely booked and then they had an appointment but it was later in the afternoon.  Which normally would be fine but it’s a four hour MRI and we were supposed to meet with the doctor immediately following this.  They were informing me that it was too late to see the doctor.  Well then I contacted the office and they told me I would have to wait a week after the MRI to get the results from the doctor.  That was unacceptable and I was pissed. I no longer want to wait.  So I let them have an ear full.  About 20 min. later I get a call and all was resolved.  We now are scheduled for the MRI on Wed. 23rd and we meet with the doctor after to get the results.  They have to have the tumor board go through the MRI and make a decision from there and decide our course of action at that point.  That happens normally on Thursdays.

So cross your fingers by my birthday March 1st we will know the course of action.  That will be the best birthday gift I could ever ask for.  One of my friends asked me recently what I wanted for my birthday.  I responded “I want my daughter to be ok”.  That is what I pray for every night and will continue to pray every day of my little girl’s life.

Ok so finally around 3:30ish things were looking up.  I took Ellie to her very first social event, Daisy’s.  Although Ellie did not want to go at first she warmed up to the idea.  After I dropped her off I had to take many deep breaths.  I was slightly overwhelmed and had a few tears.  I was so happy she was in a comfortable environment with other kids.  I hope the transition back to school is just as easy.  I’m not placing bets on it though.

Then my cousin and her kids came over for a play date.  This was so good for Jake.  He was so excited; we have never had any other kids over to our house before.  Our house is small and many projects around the house are unfinished.  So Jake was so excited to be able to have kids over.  And now we are just relaxing and enjoying the evening.  Jake is playing Lego’s with Dave and Ellie is watching a movie while I do my normal return emails and update website.

We had some frustrating points in the day but we have made great strides today in getting Ellie back to a social environment with kids.  A special thanks to Ellie’s Daisy leader Mrs. Vicky who has been very supportive throughout this entire journey we have been on.  Also for making Ellie feel comfortable and welcome.

I also wanted to thank all the wonderful people who have come forward and donated Items, house stays, baskets, etc. for the Benefit.  Another thank you for all of you planning on coming out on Feb. 11th. And the biggest thank you to Terri O’neil and “This Must Be The Place” for arranging this event for Ellie.

The Love For Ellie is overwhelming.  It’s a fantastic overwhelming feeling.
