a negative turned into a positive..

What a crazy busy but great weekend we had.  We spent most of our weekend cleaning up after the flood.  Although it was sad at first it has turned into a slight blessing in disguise.  I am taking it as a sign from god to start to purge.  Ellie has been wanting us to turn the downstairs room into a play room for a while now.  So Dave and I are taking this opportunity to finally clean the stuff out from the basement.  Well the flood made parting with some of our stuff very easy.  The only negative thing was we had to tear up the carpet and we are finding more and more stuff that was destroyed in the garage, such as dave’s welding machine (jury is still out on whether he can get it working again).  But I cannot complain many other people have it much, much worse.

My sister took the kids for the weekend with her to the lake so they could have a fun weekend while we worked.  Like I said it was a pretty productive weekend and not bad at all.  Dave and I also got to spend allot of quality time with one another.  Ok well maybe not quality but it was nice.

Today Ellie and Jake went for their annual dentist check up and cleaning.  They were so well behaved.  This was their actual first full cleaning and checkup ever.  Dave and I need to start to save though because the dentist informed us that Jake will need to start seeing an orthodontist starting in 2nd grade. He has a underbite that if not taken care of it will get worse.  I was in shock; I thought I had many years before we started with the orthodontist.  He insures me that it will be better to take care of it early.  If we wait too long then he would need jaw surgery.  But all and all I was so proud of both of them for how good they were.  Jake was so proud of his x-rays he made them print a picture for him to take home and show his daddy.

On a really positive note, Ellie is almost done with speech.  The speech pathologist thinks this set of sessions should be her last.  Her face is almost symmetrical.  Although we will miss Abby (her speech pathologist) it will be nice to enjoy our summer a little more.  Kids have a busy week ahead of them.  Jake has swim lessons and Taekwondo Cam p tomorrow; Ellie has Taekwondo Day Camp & Speech.  All before 1pm.  Keeping me on my toes, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Life is never boring with them around.
