Ellie's first update

9/27/2011

Comments

Yesterday was Ellie’s MRI for surgery.  I was so proud of her she made it through the MRI without having to be
put under.  This made me very  pleased because a 5 hour day was turned into a 3 hour day and I would imagine I
saved tons of money also.  We also met with the Child life specialist to explain to Ellie about the surgery.  She actually took it pretty well, her  only question was do I have to get a shot.  As soon as the answer was yes she flipped out.  Luckily they kept her port accessed from the MRI.

After the MRI we then met up with my Aunt Kyle, my sister and the  kids at the Ford Plant for Family Day. They had legos and free food for the kids.  Jake was in heaven.  They had a Ford Explorer built completely out of Legos.  And then from there we had a family dinner.   I think the hardest part of the day was saying goodbye to Jake as he had to leave and stay at my sisters.
He just kept on asking “but Mom why can’t I go to the hospital with you.  I’ll be good.”  I already miss my little man.

This morning was a bright and early morning as Dave carried Ellie to the car at 5am to head down for surgery.  Ellie was in great spirits.  Mostly I think this is because she didn’t have to have a shot.

Here I sit in the surgical waiting room for an update on Ellie's Surgery. It was a morning filled with smiles and we tried to keep the air light  around Ellie. We had them leave her port access in yesterday so she didn’t have to have a shot while awake. That was a nice part is that she fell asleep peacefully. As she said good bye I think she gave me the longest and strongest
hug I have ever had. It was a hard goodbye. I never could imagine hugging Ellie again, not sure if she is going to get through this. I am feeling nervous and  stressed. I pray that she makes it through; I just need her to survive this. We
received our first update a little bit ago telling us that they have just begun surgery. Keep praying and I will keep everyone up to date.

Just a quick reminder we ask that only imediate family come visit until she is out of the ICU.  I will keep this upto date.  As soon as she is out of the ICU then friends and family are welcome to come visit.  VERY VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE SICK PLEASE STAY HOME FOR THE SAFETY OF ELLIE.
