Great Eventful Week

7/12/2011

Comments

So as promised here is an update on our past week.  We have been so busy this summer it has
been difficult writing in the blog daily. I will not be posting till next Monday after this blog post.  We have a very exciting weekend ahead of us.  I will explain more on Monday.  But as far as this past weekend.

On Friday Ellie was asked to be a special guest at the Lemont/Homer Glen Relay for Life.  They originally asked me to speak and I told them I just don’t think I can do it.  As some of you know im not shy in front of a microphone or the public eye, but in this case I was concerned I would not be able to speak of Ellie’s condition without crying.  So I came up with a solution, my mom.  Well at the last minute my mom had something come up so that left me, myself, & I to do the speech.  I was so nervous all day Friday, I practiced and practiced. I was sure I was going to make it through without crying.  Well I was announced; I walked up to the microphone and started to cry before I even got a word out.  I got through the speech but I cried the entire speech.  I was so relieved when the speech was over.
Lemont/Homer Glen put on the best Relay for Life.
They have it at the Lemont High School outdoor Sports complex.  It begins on Friday night at 6pm and
goes through the night till 6am.  Everyone sets up their tents and people walk around the track they
create.  Someone is always walking while a DJ plays; people play Frisbee, etc in the middle. It was so much fun.  We stayed till about 9pm but Jake didn’t want to go, he was having too much fun.   I had an extremely proud moment When Ellie lead the Survivor walk.  I also thought it was very cute that they gave Jake a caregiver shirt.  Dave and I both agree, the only thing he caregivers for is his logos and not even that sometimes.  It gives us a good giggle.
I took a picture for you to check out.  I will do my best to post the video from Ellie leading the survivor walk.
I will have to post the other pictures at a later date when I get access to them.

The next day was my Grandpa’s 90th Birthday Party.
I volunteered myself to do a video Montage of my grandpa’s life.  I truly enjoy doing this kind of stuff.  Well not so much this time though.  I received 1500 photos
from the entire family; I organized the photos and dropped it down to 623.  This was still the fun part.  I was putting the finishing touches on the video on Friday night at 1am (or should I say Sat. morning) after putting in
probably 70 to 80 hours in working on it, the computer program crashed and deleted the video.  Yep that’s right it deleted it, I did save it but nothing I could do. So I quickly found anew program online and downloaded it and began. I did not sleep at all Friday night. I finished the video and
burned it removed it from the computer and headed to the party.  Luckily it turned out better than I expected.
I was very pleased.

My Grandpa’s Birthday was so much fun.  The kids had a blast thanks to my Aunt Becki which has the most amazing
property and parties.  They had bouncy houses & Water slide in her backyard.  The best part was when we played relay races with the kids.  Lots of fun except my Dad is a cheater.  That’s right Dad I’m sure you are reading this (YOU CHEATED).  ;)  We didn’t get home that
night till midnight and my head could not hit the pillow fast enough I was exhausted.  Thinking about the weekend it was such a fun eventful weekend.

Monday, the hair club for kids contacted me.  Ellie will be getting a wig.  Unfortunately the process takes 8 to 10 weeks.  I just hope that we get it in time for my friend’s wedding.  Ellie will be the flower girl.

Tomorrow is Chemo day! Do I need to say more?
Ellie isn’t feeling it and I must say neither am I.
We will muster through it.
