MRI, amazing pictures.

Well today marks Ellie’s twelve MRI in the past year and half.   The day started off extremely rocky, Ellie was very upset to be at the hospital.  I think she just has had bad experiences the past two times.  She was in the ER October 6th for hitting her head and then from her stay from September 20th - 22nd from the virus she caught.  After Ellie was done having her meltdowns we moved on and got her MRI done.  She was struggling so much so I stayed in the MRI room with her.  I was really proud of her she just laid back and ended up sleeping through the two hours.

After her MRI we went up to the Oncology floor to meet with the Doctor (We met with a new doctor today).  He took us to show us the scans.  The doctor was extremely impressed by how far we have come and how well Ellie is doing considering how large her tumor was and still is.  His analogy was that Ellie’s tumor is the size of a ping-pong ball now.  Allot of kids that are diagnosed with tumors start with this size tumor.  You could say Ellie is our true miracle that she is doing so well.

So below is a treat for all you Ellie followers.  I took a picture of her original scan next to her scan today.  The tumor is outlined by red line.  This is a top view of the tumor.  Yes the very large white circle on the left is the original tumor.  If you look to the right you will see todays scan.  The black space outlined with Aqua next to the white tumor is empty space filled with fluid in Ellie’s head, her brain will never fill it in.  So you could say she has a hole in her head.

But to conclude we are still waiting for all 1200 pictures to be reviewed but from the 10 or so slice pictures the Doctor reviewed it looks stable.  He did not want to officially say that because he just briefly looked at them.  It looks like no growth, we would prefer to hear that it's has shrunk but we will take it.  I have looked at these scans hundreds of times and it still takes my breath away when I see the original scans.  How blessed we are to have her with us.
