Much Needed Distraction While Helping others...

I am having a really rough time today moment by moment.  Today we got word that Illinois will have a stay in place order except for the people that are essential for making America Run.  Dave got the word from his boss that he is one of those people that are essential.  Mixed feelings immediately went through me like a cold chill starting from my head to my toes.  On one hand I am grateful that he will be bringing home a paycheck I felt super lucky but on the other hand it puts him in danger of catching this crazy virus.  I still don’t know how I feel about this so what do I do? I do what I do best berry myself into a mission.  I did the same thing during the 9 years Ellie was fighting cancer I would take on projects and go into beast mode or my husband likes to call it Volunteer Hell lol. I look back and realize it’s a distraction from my reality.  And I need a distraction for sure as we are fastly approaching the moment Ellie had the seizure and it was all downhill for her on top of this very scary virus we are facing.

So here I go again (as Dave would say with an eye roll). I started a Facebook group last night to give back to all the Restaurants of Lemont that have always been there for Dave and I during our years fighting cancer with Ellie, whether that be a Meal, a gift card, a fundraiser, or to supporting the #elliestrong foundation they have all stepped up in one way or more.  The Facebook page is called “Taste of Lemont On Wheels”. I contacted Most of the restaurants in Lemont and got as much information as possible.  I put together a spreadsheet and we launched Thursday Night at 11pm and by Tonight (Friday) 11pm we already had reached over 500 followers. 500 people that want to help these small-town restaurants with owners that mostly live in Lemont.  The Restaurants that support our Schools, Sports, Charities, & Organizations.  Lemont is one incredible town.  Of course, we have our issues, but all towns do, but when someone is knocked down Lemont comes together, and we Rally like no other town around.  We take that person or business and get behind them 100%.  So, every day I will highlight a restaurant for Lunch and one for Dinner.  I will get any specials they are offering and post it on this Facebook page.  Because my husband is hanging onto his job we took it upon ourselves to buy a meal for a family in need to lift their spirits.  I am so grateful to be able to be able to do this.  This is kind of one of the reasons I have mixed feelings about my husband going out and putting himself in danger of catching this virus.  Without this opportunity I would not be able to buy a meal for someone else.  Brighten someone’s day.  If you have an extra $10-$40 Consider buying a person or family in need a meal.  It would be a RAK (Random Act of Kindness) with double the reward.  Not only would you be helping a family and making there day, but you would be helping a small business stay above water.  If you have yet to join my Lemont Facebook group and live in the area please do and invite your friends my goal is to hit 1000 followers before the weekend is over.
