Past few days.

Sorry I have not written in a few days.  Things have been pretty crazy around here.  Ellie has had a few good days when it comes to her personality.  We have had a few days of a glimpse of my sweet little girl.  As much as I’m loving her personality coming back, we have had some very difficult times also.  Ellie has not been feeling so well for the past two days.  The Chemo hit her the hardest this time around.  She has been really tired and not eating very much.  She sometimes she cannot even hold her head up to eat.  She keeps on saying her stomach is hurting.

Yesterday was the ultimate running around like a chicken with my head cut off day.  We had to run around out to our friends house in Franklin Park to pick some stuff up in the morning. In the middle of this I got a phone call from the hospital.  They want Ellie to be part of a clinical trial.  So I got some of the details and the rest emailed to me.  I am going to research it first but they have been using this medication in many other countries since the late 80’s it just hasn’t been approved in U.S.  Needless to say not sure if we will do it but I’m leaning towards yes.  It’s hard because if it was me, I would say defiantly but this is a child I am making decisions for.  But at the same time this is a medical advancement and could help thousands of kids in the future and Ellie could be part of that.  Well I have to give our decision to them by Monday.  Lots to weigh on this weekend. On to my day…

Then we had to drop some stuff off at Kelli’s.  Then I had to pick up Dave and drive him to the dentist.  (Dave had to have his wisdom teeth removed) The dentist then gave me instructions on how to take care of him.  As she is sitting her explaining everything to me I kept on thinking, why is it when I got mine removed I got all the instructions and it was up to me to take care of myself.  Hmm the life of a women.  I am totally coming back in my next life as a man.

So before I picked Dave up from the dentist I ran errands with Jake and Ellie.  Oh boy Jake. He makes every stop last double as long and I swear he doesn’t know his name.  It takes about three times of saying it before he listens.  So 3 x 100 times in the store = everyone knows his name (like norm on cheers, but not so much)  So after dropping Dave off at home getting him settled with ice and laying down etc.  I was off the the grocery store.  That’s right you heard me the GROCERY store on Good Friday.  But not only on Good Friday, but with JAKE.  I originally was just going in for pasta and pasta sauce for a Daisy raffle basket for the Girl Scout event.  No biggy right?  Well my sister gave me a list of things to pick up for Easter.  When I say a list there were only about 7 or 8 things on the list.  BUTTTTTTT…. Those 7 or 8 things were spread throughout the entire store.  I think I hit every isle.  In the process Jake wanted EVERYTHING.  So it went like this

Jake “mom can we please, please, please have cereal”

Me “no Jake we have tons of cereal at home and have no room”

Jake “but mom this is my favorite”

Me “I know but, NO”

Jake “why not”

Me pulling out the mother phrase “Because I said so”

This went on and on with every aisle that we hit.  My Uncle Barry called me in the mist of this and he had Ellie’s song for me to listen too.  So while I was listening I kept on hearing Jake “But mom” The song sounds awesome (excluding the “but mom” in the background ;o)) very excited about it.  The Checkout the very worst spot for Jake.  He is stuck in between to check outs were they put all the little goodies of candy so that every kid can go crazy.  Jake has this thing where he has to touch every single thing.  The lady in front me is like “That’s why I left my 4 year old at home” I just giggled.  Then it was our turn to check out and Jake still not leaving the candy.  So I took his hands and placed them on the counter and said “do not remove your hands “  The lady behind me looked at me like I was the meanest mom in the world.  The best part was when Jake hit his head.  Yes he did not remove his hands from the spot but he managed to hit his head.  How I will never know, but then again he did get his head (just his head) stuck in the revolving door when he visited us in the hospital.  Its Jake, he leads with his head, but with no thought.  All though he gave me a run for my money yesterday I still wouldn’t trade him for the world.  He makes me smile all day, every day.  And boy does he show us love.  What a cutie pie.

After the store we picked up Dave’s meds and made one more stop.  Went home for a while and then dinner with my Dad.  Left Dave sleeping.

We are all so looking forward to going up to the Lake for Easter.  It should be a good time.  Then we are going to swing by my Cousins for Easter on the other side of the Family.  We have had an amazingly busy past few days but they have been good days all in all.

One questions though?  Who ever came up with the Easter Bunny Bit & Santa Claus?  I know it couldn’t have been a woman.  Or come to think of it, it could have been a woman.  A woman that wanted an excuse to buy her kids some stuff without her husband getting mad about the money.  And then the women gets back at the husband by making him dress up.  That’s it, I figured it out.  Now the work does not seem so bad when I think of it that way.  ;o) Happy Easter Everyone.  Enjoy this blessed season.

Hearts, love, & hugs from the Cuichings
