some bumps in the day but a good day.

What started off to be a difficult day is ending on such a great note.  This morning I woke up and both Ellie and Jake spent every moment fighting me from getting dressed, to eating, to homework, to getting out the front door.  I finally close the front door and realize, I think I just locked myself out of the house.  Yes Dave and I both did not have a key.  From there after I dropped the kids off at school we spent the next two hours trying to break into my house.  On a positive note it’s really hard to break into our house.  Finally had to call Dave home and he was able to break in.  Then it was time to pick Ellie up and head to therapy.  Ellie was being beyond difficult at therapy.  She refused to participate at all.  I even tried “Ellie its mommy’s birthday today and it would make me so happy if you behaved.”  Ellie’s response to that was “I hate your birthday it’s not fun.”  I just had to laugh at this point.

Finally got home around 3:00ish.  As soon as Dave got home he let me go to my room for some nice Kyle time.  I took a wonderful nap and woke up refreshed.  Now here are the positives of the Day.  Ellie’s surgery is scheduled; we have to be downtown at 9:30am.  We are moving forward to kick this horrible disease.  Another thing that touched my heart today was that these sweet girls that live two doors down went house to house requesting donations for a service project.  They came over and presented us with $500.00 in Pea Pod Gift cards.  That was incredible.  I just hope my kids are as thoughtful and do something special for a family in need someday.  Now on a negative but positive thought my car is officially a goner.  The good news is that we are looking to get a newer used car.  Very excited about getting a new car, not so much about the payments but at least we will be safe driving too and from the city over the next year.  We have to do what we have to do.  Luckily one of my dad’s best friends manages a car dealership and is working on getting us a great deal.

And finally on to my little angel (ok maybe not all the time lately but she is showing glimmers of my sweet Ellie more and more everyday).  My Mom and Dave dropped by to give Ellie a very early birthday gift.  Her face lit up and has not stopped watching PBS kids.  She has been singing with her head phones on all night long.  I am going to try to post a video clip to the right or below.  My Mom and Dave thought this is something she will need while we sit and do Chemo every week for 5 to 6 hours.  Hopefully it will make the time go faster for her.  I love hearing her sing again, it means that my baby girl is on her way back to us.  Thanks again for everyone’s love and support.  All and all it ended up being a very relaxing good birthday.
