very Long Chemo day...

5/4/2011

Comments

Today start to finish we had a long 13 hour chemo day including travel times.  On the way to the hospital my mom said “you know its construction season, when it takes this long to get down to the hospital.” It took us two hours to get down to children’s today.  Rough start but we ended on a strong note.  Ellie was really cranky from the moment we got to the hospital.  She was sick of being in the car and then as she walked into the hospital it was really cold.  Everything went in slow motion today because not only did we have our regular Chemo day, we also had a four hour blood transfusion.

We thought it was a three hour addition but we soon found out it was four additional hours.  It was amazing watching the color come back in Ellie’s face as she got the blood transfusion.  She also perked up a little.  This was very exciting to see.  We even got a very happy little girl when grandma got her a McDonald’s toy. This was also very exciting to see.

After our very long day we closed down the oncology day hospital. We were one of the first to arrive and one of the last ones to leave.  Ellie was in great spirits as we left she even stopped as we walked to the parking garage to take some pictures for me.  Chemo gets easier and easier for her every week.  When I say easier I don’t mean the actual chemo but she is getting into more of a routine which makes it easier on me.  We even got a picture of the skyline in the parking garage as we walked to our car.  The best part of the day was the drive home.  We flew home in an hour.

Well we just got home and I wanted to write on the blog right away because I am exhausted. Who knows when I am going to fall asleep?  For now hearts, love, & peace for sweet Ellie.  Oh yeah and sleep for Mommy. :o)
