We have our Ups and big downs, today was a down

9/8/2011

I knew that today was going to be a rough day when I started to
listen to Eric and Kathy in the morning and started to cry this morning. They
were talking about the Radio Marathon for Children’s memorial hospital. They
were discussing the families and then I realized that we are one of those
families. Well the day did not get better as it went on. I decided to drive out
to the Target on Kingery to get Ellie Popcorn while she was in school. Ellie's
favorite thing is popcorn and our target got rid of the snack shop and replaced
it with Starbucks (boooo). First thing I went to the bank and realized that I
had lost my Drivers License. Then went to target and came out to find my car
not starting. Thank goodness my brother-in-law came out perfect timing because I
had to get home and get Jake off the bus. Well it was loose wires on the
battery. Well my day did not end there. Picked up Ellie, dropped her at my
sisters, took Jake and went to the DMV. You know going to the DMV is always
fun. Well then I had to pickup lunch for Jake. Jake was stuck on McDonalds, I
have learned to Hate McDonalds. So I finally convinced him to go somewhere
else. After 30 min. driving around looking for somewhere to eat we ended up at
McDonalds in Elmhurst by his doctor’s office.

So we get inside and it is
the oldest dumpiest McDonalds I have been in. It defiantly needs to be
remodeled. They have the drinks behind the counter so not even free refills. So
we order our food and Jake wants to go outside to the play land. It was a little
chilly and dirty but I was good with going outside. So not even two minutes into
lunch Jake spills my LARGE pop on my lap and purse. Fantastic right? Then he
goes to play and comes back to tell me it’s kind of scary. I told him to come
eat and then we can play or go. Well we are almost done eating and then we down
poured on. At this point I just started to laugh out loud. I looked crazy
standing in the rain, with soggy fries, just laughing. At this point I was just
waiting for the men in the white coats to take me away.

I then took Jake
to the Ear specialist. His ear is still leaking drainage. I did learn my lesson
to never go to the regular pediatrician when Jake has ear problems. The
Pediatrician (not our normal Pediatrician) misdiagnosed Jake with a burse ear
drum. The ear specialist filled me in that he had a bad infection under his
tubes and needed ear drops. After his appointment it seemed that the day started
to look up. For the most part the rest of the day went really well.

Went
to puppy school with Sam. That puppy has been such a healing factor in our
family. She makes me smile every day. Today she was learning how to play dead,
spin in a circle, and jump through a hoop. How stinking cute is that. I guess
Ellie knew what the family needed when she begged for a puppy. At first Sam was
my baby and now Dave and Sam have a really bonded too. Like I said Sam has been
such good healing for our family. Thanks again Mom and Dave for giving Ellie
  (our family) Sam.
Well I am hoping that tomorrow is a new day with laughter and happiness.

I know that everyone wants an update on Ellie and her
condition but at this point I still am not able to give a full update. I can
tell you that she has not had Chemo in weeks now and she is acting almost like a
normal 2nd grader and I am loving it. I will be updating everyone within a few
weeks so just keep checking back. I do ask that you please be careful what you
say when children are around because although Ellie knows she has a brain tumor
she does not know or understand that there is a possibility of her not being
healed. I would hate for her to hear anything negative at this point. I want her
to try to be a normal 2nd grader.
We do ask that everyone keep Ellie in your
prayers. Thanks again for everyone's love and support.
